Silicon Valley improving the look and feel of user interfaces for
popular devices such as cell phones and laptop computers.Since
2003, James Bulvanoski has been making performance art and displaying
videos in events in and around New York City. In 2005, James Bulvanoski

Biennial. In 2006, James Bulvanoski displayed his widely circulated
video "OFF" on the popular video site "Youtube" and became widely known
as his "Youtube" screen name "Bo1v".Bo1v
draws his inspiration from a personal crusade for meaning that started
when he began making videos of him-self performing when he was eight
years old. The second child of a business entrepreneur who helped start
one of America’s first cell phone companies in the 1980’s, Bo1v began
from an early age to observe how the navigating of technology related
to machines, systems, and human perception.Bo1v’s latest video works continue this search online within the spaces of GOOGLE, YouTube, his personal computer and iPod.In
“Digital Light Screen Act, 2007”, Bo1v records himself playing with his
iPod in bed. In “Be Still, 2008”, Bo1v records himself searching for
the Hindu God Shiva on Google and performing a meditative dance of
celebration with a cut out image of the Virgin Mary.Technology VS God VS Mankind VS Earth Working
with subjects like internet pornography and searching for god on
YouTube, Bo1v records everyday experiences with technology and
transforms them into acts of beauty and meaning. In
"Watching Steps, 2008", Bo1v records his metaphor of achieving
enlightenment through technology as getting caught in the spaces
between a NY Subway escalator while trying to change trains. In
"Szcreen Spiral", 2007 Bo1v loses himself within the frame of a
computer software program while experiencing the frames of an image
until the image is dissolved inside the computers framework.Bo1v's
work has been described as raw and soothing and is a timely exploration
of our rapidly expanding sense of electronic being as hinted at by
artists such as Seth Price and Shana Moulton.Bo1v’s video works and paintings are found in numerous private Video collections in the US, Germany, and Portugal. For more information contact:James Bulvanoski Mobile: 201-320-3361 jbulvanoski@yahoo.com www.Bo1v.com
